From interior design and the great outdoors, to old-school designs rooted in tradition, footwear designers are pulling inspiration from an endless pool of sources. Here’s a look at four trends to catch for Fall ’17.

Trend 1: Home Goods

Dressing like your grandmother’s living room never looked so swank. From tapestries and brocades, to appliqués, embroidery and braided cord, home textiles are blanketing women’s footwear. The total look is an opulent alternative to traditional bohemian fall fashion.

Trend 2: Round About

From cozy boots to tailored oxfords, expect to see scalloped edges sneak its way into fall fashion. The feminine detail adds an instant pop of retro cool to simple silhouettes.

Trend 3: Haute Hikers

Glampers can rejoice. Fashionable hikers—styles that are more likely to pound the city pavement than ever hit the trail—are back for another fall season. The new group is refreshed with sleek wedge heels and athletic motifs.

Trend 4: The Classics

We call this trend “school uniform chic.” Men’s and women’s shoe brands are combining classic navy and maroon colorways with old-school silhouettes like penny loafers, kiltie oxfords and loafers.
